Welcome to Team Lewis! Our team is named for Meriwether Lewis who, along with William Clark, set out from Pittsburgh in August 1803 on a three-year expedition to explore the newly-acquired Louisiana Purchase and the land west of it, which would eventually become a part of the United States. For Lewis and Clark as well as the men and woman who accompanied them, this journey was one of great challenges that required perseverance, discipline, and determination to overcome as well as a time of incredible discovery and learning; all of this led to the team’s success.
